there were two areas being monitored for possible tropical development.
The first is an area of convection just west of Sri Lanka...INVEST 92B.... in the northern Indian Ocean. This system is not expected to develop due to its proximity to southern India. A few inches of rain have already been reported, and more rain is likely over the next 24 to 36 hours as the system makes slow progress across the area.
The other area being monitored is in the southern Indian Ocean. A low pressure system ....INVEST 91S ....centered near 3.7 south and 74.2 east, or about 245 miles north-northeast of Diego Garcia, is showing signs of development. Deep convection has developed around a well-defined circulation, and it is possible that this system could become a tropical cyclone over the next few days. This low pressure system is expected to move to the southwest away from the equator, into an area where conditions are somewhat favorable for development.
